TRAINING FOR THE NZ JUNIOR NATIONALS

Nelson Motor Cycle Club members competing at the Junior MX Nationals can become part of a special Junior rider training group. This will concentrate on bike skills & techniques with experienced Club members Murray Thorn, Ben McConochie, Mark Mirfin plus other outside coaches.
There will also be specific training for fitness, nutrition and motivation to help you get your Game Face On. These courses will be presented by professional coaches and trainers sourced by Sport Tasman. The NMCC has been working with Sport Tasman, SPARC, ACC and MNZ  to get a pilot motorcycling coaching program under way. This program will be available for all MNZ clubs through their regional sports trusts and will be officially launched at the end of March. The costs for this training will be subsidised to keep it as affordable as possible. If you wish to become part of this program please let us know at: CLICK HERE

MX DE NATIONS FUNDRAISER RACING

The Taupo Motorcycle Club is fundraising for the MXdN teams by hosting “The NZ  Battle of the Clubs”, a raceday based on the MXdeN formatfor all NZ clubs. Racing is on Saturday 29 May with a club raceday on Sunday 30th to relax at.
Teams are of 3 riders in each
- Juniors (1 of each: Jnr 85cc - Jnr 125cc – Jnr 250/4)
- Seniors (1 of each: MX2 – MX1 – Vet)
The Nelson Club would also like to provide a reserve in each team and an overall Team Manager.

An anonymous donor is paying the team entry fee of $300 so all you have to do is prove to the Club Committee that you can travel to the event, perform well (provide a CV with past results etc), be a current NMCC and MNZ paid up member and so abide by the usual competition standards, and generally Do Nelson Proud!

Please make your written submissions to the Club Secretary, PO Box 93, Nelson (or hand delivered to Richie at Morley Honda) by 5pm Monday March 8th for consideration as the Club Committee meeting is the 10th and we wish to have adequate time to advise the successful applicants so they can get cheaper travel deals.
NO late submissions will be looked at and the Committee decision is final.

2010 TASMAN SPEED WEEK
What other region could boast five superb motorcycling events run in the first week of the new year?

From the Nelson Road Racing Assn. Port Nelson Street Races, through the Nelson Motor Cycle Club's Morley Honda Beach races, the Thunderbike Powersports Endurocross, the Teltrac South Island Supercross Champs and to the final event in the Suzuki Spectacular National Supercross Champs round - it was a week full of high paced action, hard work and glory for the riders.
I guess if you add in the weekend Speedway it made for one heck of a show for petrolheads!

The club received this for our members and supporters

To all those who helped make the first 10 days of the new year such a great success a BIG thank you.
Without your contribution there wouldn’t have been any events.
It was great to see some new faces amongst the members who give up their time and energy to put on events for your enjoyment, and particularly
pleasing to see some Junior members helping out.

If you look at the event calendar and see an event coming up that you want to ride at, give the organiser a ring and offer some assistance. It does not take much, even ½ an hour at the end of the day to help pack up is most appreciated, remember “ many hands make light work”.

I was at the Supercross on the weekend and on Saturday: Del Morgan, Marie Morgan, Bob Cooke, Murray Thorn, Sandy Bandy, Jannine Pope, Matt Wratten and myself were all present as Life Members of our Club, as well as Les
Roberts the Club Patron.
Of those present, 7 were volunteers helping with the event!
(NB The only surviving Life Member absent was John Dobson - Jannine)

As Neil Ritchie commented “ 5 marvellous events in the first 10 days of the new decade is a feat probably unmatched by any motorcycle club in the world”

Cheers, Paul Searancke
Vice President & Life Member

Sun 10 Suzuki NZ Supercross - NZ National Champs Rnd 2

Rat Track Lower Moutere -

Cody Cooper v Scott Columb v Ben Townley v Jesse Wiki v Brad Groombridge - Both Saturday & Sunday racing was HOT!

While the weather put paid to the Dash (Splash) for Cash at the end of Sunday's Championship racing, the pace that was shown to our riders and spectators alike was fast and furious!

Thunderbike Powersports Top of the South Endurocross

at the Richmond Showground

The racing was fast - as fast as logs, see-saws, water jumps and ditches can allow!
Congratulations to the racers - you all provided a great spectacle, as evidenced by the cheers and rousing welcomes at various of the obstacles from onlookers. As organisers, a huge improvement in skills during the day plus requests for a 2010 series were noted - watch this space!

Thanks again to Thunderbike Powersports as principal sponsor, plus all others that helped out at this great event.

The riders came and showed off their riding skills and we all enjoyed a real spectacle of skills and racing too - and as for the water jump, Broxy was impressed!

MORLEY HONDA BEACH RACES

The Morley Honda Beach Races at Rabbit Island got moved forward from 3pm as the high wind held the blue moon tides up the beach, and we all got a sandblasting, but we had a blast and I doubt there was much sunburn around!
Jason Feaver took out a Beach Double, with his King of the Beach title in the Morley Honda Modern Feature Race, a repeat of his 2008 inaugural Rabbit Island venture win, and Greg Dodson on the Tenere 750cc adventure bike won the Neville Askew Classic Feature Race (Neville would have loved the bike). Club secretary Richard East certainly made an impression this year on that CB750 road bike - him and Jaden Curtis on the BMW K100 (1000cc) made the straights look sweet, and those two corners? Well!
And how about 25 quads in full flight, or a beach straight full of 35 Open class motocrossers!

Congratulations to sponsor Morley Honda and all the team for this brilliant day's racing
