Friday 26th May 1922 a group of enthusiastic bowlers met in the Rialto tearooms to discuss the formation of a new bowling club in Hastings.
Name options were Harae-Mae, Argyll, Ventura and Kia-Ora.
After due consideration Kia Toa was chosen and a subscription set at 3pound/3/ per annum.
The official opening was on 3rd February 1923 with Mrs H. R. French playing the first bowl.
Today the sporting complex offers two lawn bowling greens ,one artificial and one grass and is the home of the Hastings Croquet Club who currently have one playing surface and will be extending this to two later this year.
Facilities are available for work place social events with a fully licenced bar and great dance floor.
Visitors, spectators and new members are always welcome.
