Captain Katrina Carson got her radar right with a well-drilled penalty corner that beat the agile Tech keeper to draw the teams level again. Otumoetai worked the ball around the Tech defence to take the lead for the first time a little before half-time. [Played at Ngatea] A tight even encounter as befits a championship final, with Thames Valley scoring the winner in the second half, leaving Fraser Tech as runner-up for the second successive year.
For 3rd place: Mt Maunganui 1 (Isaac Feeney) Rotorua Aces 1 (Tenga Rangitauira) HT 1-0. [Played at Tauranga Hockey Centre]. Both teams moved the ball around the turf at speed. Just before half time, Aces fumbled a penalty corner and the Mount broke quickly upfield where young student Jacob Fahl drew the defence then slid the ball to left wing Isaac Feeney who scored. Aces had chances to level after the interval with two shots fired over the top of the goal. Then in the 24th minute Tenga Rangitauira completed a slick dribble to flick the ball past the Mount goalie into the net.
