Our history:-

The Whakatane Athletic and Harrier Club was established in 1939.  In 1954 the Harrier section of the club was established with its own programme.

Our members include runners of all levels, field athletes, recreational walkers, mulit-sporters, and plenty of children - with competition, fun, and satisfaction for all.

You'll discover great new places to run or walk, in good company, with most events followed by afternoon tea.

Our Summer Athletics Programme:-

We run a weekly athletics night catering for all ages, offering a full range of track and field events from October to April

Our Winter Harrier Programme:-

Winter harrier races are held between Easter and October in a variety of venues around Whakatane and the Eastern Bay,  These offer timed races for all ages, including walkers, and many handicapped events.

Special Events:-
The club runs the annual Toi's Challenge - a nationally known multi-terrain race - a stunning 17k trail run.

Important Notices:-

Due to Whakatane Swimming Pools undertaking remedial repairs/construction restricted access is in place. Best access points to club are via walkway from Lovelock Street, Car Park opposite Croquet Club, Car Park next to Tennis Courts Goulstone Road or Walkway between WHS & tennis courts.
