Blackball WMC Cycle Classic

Yes January 28th 2012 sees the 3rd running of this event. Actually its four events in one comprising a 25k one lapper to the 4 lap Classic.

Gordon McCauley former NZ Road Champion is our celebrity rider this year. Gordon adds colour and plenty of competition to any event he's a part of. So come ready to race.

First prize for the 100k Classic is $1000

Total prize money is $4000.
The allocation of prize money is:
100k--- 1st $1000,  2nd $200,  3rd $150,
4th $100,  5th $60,  6th $40.
Fastest woman $150

75k  1st $500,  2nd $200  3rd $150
Fastest woman $150.

50k  1st $200,  2nd $100,  3rd $50
Fastest woman $50.

25k  1st $100,  2nd $75,  3rd $50,

Additionally there will be a lucky number draw worth $500 and other spot prizes. You must be on the premises of BWMC to qualify.

Entry costs just $45 per rider in the three longer categories and $20 for the 25k ride.
Up to four family members can enter the 25k distance for just $50..

An administration fee of $10 will be added to all but the 25k ride for entries received after 25th January.

All riders must report by 11.30am on the day. Start times;
25k  12pm,
50k  12.15pm
75k  12.30pm
100k  12.45pm
Prize Giving begins at the BWMC at 4.30pm

Important: All riders who ride the Benchmark Series or who in the opinion of the Hokitika Cycling officials are of a better standard than the event distance they have entered, will be re-allocated to the distance commensurate with their ability.

If we can arrange at least an additional $500 sponsorship for 2013 we are considering having a criterium around Blackball township on Sunday morning following the race. We will be asking you at the start line if this were to happen would you consider staying overnight. Perhaps you could give this some thought please.

A big thank- you to all who took part in or assisted with our cyle races last Saturday.

And congratulations too to all our prize winners.

Just wondering if you might give us a little feed-back.

I signalled in our web-page text that we would be asking, if we were to guarantee at least $500 in prize money would people stay for a criterium Sunday morning. Well I have to put my hand up and say I just forgot.

If you rode either the A (100k) or B (75k)grade would you mind contacting me on the address below with a yea or a nay.

A question for everyone who took part is ---  if we were to add five dollars on to the entry fee and provide a barbeque at the conclusion of the races would that be helpful?

Any suggestions on how we might get the numbers competing to increase would be especiialy welcome.
