The Serious Fishing Club (SFC) began in 1993 and since then have held regular fishing trips, mostly about the French Pass / D'Urville Island area but also out of Kaikoura and to the Chatham Islands.
The club have used a number of charter operators for the fishing, and have stayed overnight at a variety of places in the Marlborough Sounds at Kaikoura and the Hotel Chathams
The club is principally for members of the Rotary Club of Nelsonbut also has included past club members, friends and relatives.
The next scheduled trip will be with Clarence Fishing Charters on Sunday 18th March 2012.
Accommodation will be in the nearby cottage.
Fishing begins at 0700 hours with the target species being Grouper, Blue Cod, Trumpeter, Greyboy Shark with the odd Sea Perch (Maori Chief) thrown in.
Fishermen should also get a crayfish to take home in their chilli bin as well.
The charter operator (Wade) provides rods, fishing gear and bait.
