EDITH THOMPSON MEMORIAL RESULT
Twelve teams entered this event this year, which again was kindly sponsored by the Scottish Society.
First prize with three wins went to the Baring Square team of Ken Johnson, Selwyn Munro, Graham Ranson and Wayne Hillgrove. Second place, with two wins and a draw, went to the Willowby team of Ken Mackenzie, Grant Wilson, Taylor Mackenzie and Hazel Mitchell, who just edged out the Graeme Findlay skipped team on a countback.
DOAK MIXED PAIRS RESULTS
Russell Ellis and Gaynor Hurst have won the first AIBA tournament for the 2012 season, beating Martin Nordqvist and Jenny Nordqvist 13-6. Martin and Jenny got off to a great start picking up a three on the first end, but scores were tied at 3-3 after two ends. Big scoring was to be had in the 5th end when Russell picked up a 5 and with Martin burning the 7th end, and dropping 1 shot in the 8th end, the game was then over. Well done also to Mat Bassett and Cait Bassett, and also Donald Bell and Joyce Cleghorn on being placed third equal.
The plate round was won by Kevin Smith and Gaylene Smith, with a resounding win 14-0 over Graham McKee and Betty Dijkers.
