Competitive swimming in the Ashburton District centres around the Jennian Homes Ashburton Swim Team sponsered by The Ashburton Trust. This team has members from all over the Ashburton District. Boys and Girls aged 8 to 18 train at the Ashburton Community Pool and compete in swimming carnivals all over the country. This sucessful team has a large number of its members qualifying for regional and National Chamionships.
The Head Coach for the Jennian Homes Ashburton Swim team is Carl Gordon, a former New Zealand open water champion and current New Zealand open water coach. 2010 Mid Canterbury Sports Awards Coach of the Year and Swimming NZ Provincial Coach of the year 2011.
