New or experienced bowlers and visitors are most welcome at Bowls Heretaunga. We Offer competitive and recreational bowling. regular coaching is available. Get your own team, or we will find a spot for you. Our greens are available for play at any time of the year.
Bowls Heretaunga has the only fully covered lawn bowls facility in Hawke's Bay. It has two international sized all weather Greengauge carpet greens, one outdoors and the other indoors, both of which are available for play in all seasons.
Bowls Heretaunga is an adjunct of the Heretaunga Chartered Club Inc. (established 1906) which also features darts, indoor bowls (small mat), snooker, billiards & pool, TAB, golf and fishing.

70th Webber Shield 2012
Another successful Webber Shield tournament was held last week - and once again it finished with an extremely close final. Barry Wynks' Takaro (Manawatu) team of Terry Curtis, Terry Rossiter and Laurie Gordon prevailed 25/21 over Bruce Stewart's Heretaunga team of Jim Bentley, Byron Brook, and Ian Mason. Barry Wynks, along with Laurie Gordon and Terry Curtis, made it 'two-in a row' as they won the tournament last year. In third place was Barry Wakely's Bay View team of Joe Johansson, Ken Robson and Graham Gaut. Fourth was George Ngametua's composite team of Phil Young, Gary Fargher and Jack Philip.

Back to Back wins for Paul Harrison and Gavin Keighley in Bowls Hawke's Bay's Champion of Champion Junior pairs played at Omarunui on Sunday. With three ends to play and at 5.30pm in failing daylight, Bowls Heretaunga's Pat O'Neil and Mike Isaacson were 14/6 up - against Tilly Carlson and Bunny Kupa (National Service) playing in the final of the Bowls Hawke's Bay Champion of Champion Pairs at Bowls Taradale. Murray and Kumera the very best of luck for the National Club Pairs Championship in Invercargill on Monday and Tuesday. The venue, Waverley Bowling Club Invercargill, has both an indoor and an outdoor green - like Bowls Heretaunga.

Two Heretaunga teams (Judy McDonald and Polly McKenzie and Trish Cross and Helen Bentley) entered the Centre Junior Women's pairs and both qualified for post-section play. Trish and Helen progressed to the final where they were defeated by the Kia Toa duo of Joy Iti and Heather Morrish. Thanks to Lois for info.

In calm conditions and against an extremely competitive field, Lynn Stowe (s), Jane Selby-Paterson, Colleen Ferrick and Lois Stewart (Bowls Heretaunga) won the Cissie Winstanley Memorial two day 'Classic' at Bowls Napier - making this their second victory as a team in this event. BHB Men's Open Pairs final at Bowls Taradale; Jim Bentley and Ian Mason had what appeared to be a commanding lead, being 15/5 up at one stage, and with three ends to go the scoreboard read 15/10. But a courageous fightback saw the defending champions, (Paul (Kumera) Selby and Murray Glassey), draw level on the final 18th end (15/15), and then take the extra end to win the BHB Open Pairs title once again. cdf
Bowls Hawke's Bay's Centre Open Triples for both men and women was played at Bowls Napier this last weekend. Two extremely even contests prevailed in both finals. The Bowls Heretaunga trio of Lynn Stowe (s), Colleen Ferrick and Lois Stewart defeated the Taradale combination of Angela Boyd, Cheryl Glock and Barbara Exeter 17/16 after an extra end. cdf
