The Bream Bay Swimming Club was formed in 1976 and is the only affiliated club promoting the sport within the wider Bream Bay District.  The BBSC is affiliated to the Northland Swimming Association, Swimming Northland.

"Another great year for the Bream Bay Swim Club. Our club carnival was held in the Kawakawa Heated Pool, we had 648 entries and it was a huge success. It provided swimmers with a final chance to qualify for national meets and a great number of personal bests were achieved.
Six of our swimmers qualified for the NZ Age Group Championships. Our team was Casey Williamson, Zia and Sally Pitkethley, Haylee Jensen and Chad Walker. Haylee and Chad both made finals with Sally being the next best performed. Holly Millan also qualified but was unable to compete through injury.  Alex Birchall, David Platt, Marco Rodrigue, Molly Farrell and Mathew Jensen all qualified for the NZ D2 Championships.  Our NZ Juniors Team of Kieran Swords, Emma Wickham, Ruby-lee Beckham, Isabelle Paton, Turanga Morgan-Edmonds, Josh Jensen and Seth Faoagali clearly showed we have a bright future. Ruby and Emma helped Northland relays to 6th and 8th placings. Kieran’s Northland relay team was 3rd. Josh had two top 20 placings. Seth a 5th and 6 top 20 placings and Turanga an amazing three 4ths a 5th and a 7th. Twelve swimmer broke Northland records.  To all our sponsors, ASB Trust, Oxford Trust, Northport, SPI, Macsway Scaffolding, Tiana’s Swim School, BBS Timbers and Scavengers a huge thankyou. Your support enables many families to continue participating in our sport. "
