Our Senior Women - sponsored by Carlton Party Hire North Shore - had two convincing wins on the way to winning their well deserved GOLD medal. In the semis they beat Hutt 17 - 10 and then stepped it up in the final to beat Maranui 15 - 1. Well done girls!! Awesome stuff.

2 May: Congratulations to the following North Harbour players who have been selected for the 2012 NZ Youth Mens team to compete in the 2012 World Youth Championships.
22 April: Some awesome results and medal placings for North Harbour schools at the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools Champs in Wellington.
In the Boys Championship Division, our schools took the top two medals with Rangitoto winning Gold and Westlake Silver. Other placings were Kristin 5th and Takapuna 9th,
In the Girls Championship Division, Rangitoto again took the Gold with Westlake achieving a 7th place.
Special mention should also be made of the Coaches of the Rangi Gold Medal winning teams. Alex Mackenzie ( Boys coach - whose name seems to be coming up quite frequently on the honours board lately) and Michael Buck (Girls coach, who adds yet another title to his already long list of achievements).
19 April: North Harbour Water Polo would like to congratulate the following Harbour boys who have been named in the NZ Under 15 team to play Queensland (June 25-29), to play in the 2012 Panasonic Pan Pacs U16 Division (June 29 - July 4) and to play a series against NSW CHS (July 5 6).
15 April: Congratulations to Matt Payne, who has been selected as NZ Water Polo Head Coach for the 2012 NZ School Girls team.
Easter saw our two U12 teams travel to Mt Maunganui to compete in the Tauranga U12 Tournament.
Our North Harbour Maroon team were very unlucky to not go straight through to the final losing a number of games by one goal. They played off for the Bronze in the A Grade and won it convincingly. Nicole Taylor coached this team and she was thrilled with the additional skills the kids picked up over the three days. Nicole is keen to take a team through to the Tournament of Olympic Hopefuls in September and walk away with the gold. Go North Harbour Maroon.
Our North Harbour Black team had a brand new coach on the scene. Dan Marsden plays for North Harbour U16 and NZ U16 Boys but was keen to take on a coaching role. Boy, did he do a great job this team took out the Gold in the C Grade with a tight win over Hutt Blazers 2-1. Well done Dan and kids.
I understand there were a few stressed parents watching the games with one even going to golden goal. Look forward to the future with many more games of water polo. On behalf of the North Harbour Water Polo Club we would like to congratulate both teams both coaches and of course their great managers Lisette and Lee.

18 July: NZ Youth Women score a historic win over Hungary U17 Girls in Dunaujvaros last night beating the highly favoured Europeans 11-10. The team consists of 8 North Harbour girls Olivia Murphy, Rebecca Parkes, Nina Lala, Sarah Landry, Chelsea Geary, Caitlin Lopes da Silva, Pinky Rewi Henry and Lisa Tuke who all played important roles within the win and spent a majority of the time in the pool. The game was very aggressive with many kickouts on both sides. The NZ girls have a couple of sprained fingers, bruised ribs, sore eyes and numerous bruises that showed they had played one of the top teams in the world within this age group.
The Harbour girls showed their ability to read each others minds and were quick to take up any errors caused by the Hungarian U17 girls. Great win for NZ but also a great win for North Harbour Water Polo club who have brought these girls through the programme to be where they are today.
The team will play a further test against Hungary tonight and then take on USA Youth Girls in a one test series before heading to Canada for a further test series.
