Henwood and Hadlee to headline the JVL Prestige Realty Annual Cricket Fundraising Dinner
It’s that time of year again when the best event on the Manawatu social calendar is planned to coincide with the big cricket tour of the summer. The entrée of Zimbabwe has almost been devoured by our in-form Black Caps and they are looking ready to tuck into the main course of an incredibly talented South African team. Led by our very own Ross Taylor and supported by another local legend Jacob Oram, the Black Caps look ready and like them the MCA is ready for our big event of the season, specifically the 13th Annual JVL Prestige Realty Cricket Dinner on
March 14th 2012.
On the entertainment side of things, this year we are mixing it up by having a great Kiwi comedian in
Dai Henwood, from the hit show
7 Days, oversee proceedings and deliver his award winning Stand-up act followed by a cricket speaker in the form of New Zealand’s greatest ever cricketer,
Sir Richard Hadlee. Sir Richard’s record speaks for itself and is a true legend of our sport, being proclaimed by Wisden in 2002 as the second greatest Test bowler of all time. When he captured his 374th test wicket on the 12th of November 1988 against India in Bangalore, he became the world record holder. He went on to become one of the greatest all rounder’s in the history of the game, as he captured 431 test wickets and scored over 3000 test runs.
Once again the event will be held in the exquisite Silks Room at the Awapuni Events Centre on the Awapuni Racecourse. Again this season we are looking to raise funds to support junior cricket in the region so we can continue our proud tradition of producing Black Caps like current Captain Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram and other recent Black Caps like Jamie How, Michael Mason and Adam Milne.
