Welcome to Northwave Swim Club....................

Northwave Swim club has a proud history.
Coach Profile:
Head Coach Monica Cooper, SNZ Level Three,now Silver Licence, current member of NZSCTA, coached for over twenty six years and was also very involved in Coach education for several years as Chairman of Swimming Education NZ. A past Board member of the NZ Swimming Federation, Swimming NZ and  the NZ Coaches Association.
Results acheived:
Coached the "Northland Swimmer of the Year" for 21 consecutive years.
The most recent, Mark Cooper, was Swimmer of the Year for eight consecutive years.
Mark (Coop) represented NZ at the Oceania Championships, Youth Olympics, Youth Commonwealth Games and was a member of the NZ Trans Tasman Series team. He also competed in the Grand Prix series in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney and the Australian Open Championships both LC and SC.
Another past club member Kushla Chapman represented NZ at the Australian Age Group Championships winning  gold medals - 100 & 200m Backstroke. Kushla  won medals at National Open level, several National Age Group medals and held NZ Age Group records.
Many Northwave swimmers have successfully represented Northwave at National meets winning national medals with Mark Cooper the only Northland male swimmer to win medals at NZ Open level, winning silver in the Men's 200m Backstroke and Bronze in the Men's 400m Individual Medley. Mark  won many medals  throughout his career from NZ Junior level and every year when competing at National Age Groups from 13-18yrs,
Melita Raravula another National medal winner who has now won many medals in a wide range of events from Butterfly, IM, Free and Breaststroke both Short & Long Course. Also making  A &  B Finals at NZ Opens.
Melita was Northland's 2009-10 "Junior Swimmer of the Year" and winner of the "Mark Cooper Trophy" for the performance closest % margin to a NZ record for the past two consecutive seasons.
These three swimmers have broken many Northland Open, Junior and Age Group records, with Northwave swimmers regularly breaking Age Group records.
Snapper Gulick gained two silver medals in 100 & 200 Butterfly at NZ Juniors 2011.

We offer swimmers the opportunity to fulfil their goals by providing a full training programme from a well qualified and skilled coaching team.

Northwave fosters an environment of friendship, confidence, good sportsmanship & group co-operation.

Both our coaches upskilled by attending the 2010 Australian Coaches Convention with Mark attending the Silver Licence Course.

We train at the Whangarei Aquatic Centre  7 lane  25m Indoor facility.
Parents are able to become well qualified officials and support Swimming Northland and SNZ.
We have a highly efficient committee who manage the needs of the club.

We are a supportive club working together to offer families an excellent environment to help acheive success in and out of the pool by developing life skills.
