Torbay Tennis Club

The Torbay Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1955 and celebrated its 50th anniversary
in 2005. Asphalt courts were replaced with Plexipave courts in the 1980s, which were in turn
replaced by astro-turf in the 1990s. New astro-Turf court surfaces and nets were installed in 2005.
TTC has 4 courts.

TTC is affiliated with Tennis North Harbour and participates in its interclub tournaments with
about 25 teams including Juniors, covering most grades.

On Wednesday nights the club is open for social tennis. This is a good chance to play some
Tennis with other club members, of varying skill levels, on an informal basis. We will be
trialling a Friday Club Night for Members in the near future.

· Ladies Day tennis is on Thursday from 9:30 to 12:00pm. The ladies also play interclub
Monday or Tuesday depending on their grade.

· The Club caters for all Junior players, and all junior members receive coaching by a
professional coach.

· The Club is located at 35 Watea Road in Torbay. The carpark can also be accessed from
the Torbay Shopping Centre car park, or from Watea Rd.

· John Carlyon is the Club's coach. John runs coaching sessions for junior members as part
of their subscription fee. He also runs a Pee Wee program for 5 - 7 year olds. The intake
for that is on the 20th July and runs for 8 weeks. Coaching is available for adults for a fee.
