This organisation is a fully independent offshoot of the Institute of Aikido UK. We do not run classes but act a parent body for a group of New Zealand aikido clubs following the same syllabus as the IoA UK.
Instructors Board Director Ray Eder was appointed by Mr H. Foster, Director Coaching of the Institute of Aikido in the UK , to be his representative in New Zealand.
During Mr Fosters lifetime we were an affiliate of the IoA UK and, while fully supporting the governing board which now runs the IoA UK, we have chosen to operate more independently since his death.
One of our major guiding values is that the teaching of aikido is a community service and should not be done for personal profit. Aikido is non-competitive and fosters a cooperative, supportive attitude which is not always compatible with competitive business practices
This organisation does not run classes. It is a parent body for aikido clubs that want to train under the umbrella of the Institute of Aikido in New Zealand
