Good morning on a 200 meter track built for speed skating and up to international standards the National Records fell with Manawatus Peter Michael leading the way with five National records and a New Zealand Record the racing was fast and safe with the international track up to world level Peter showed the big crowd why he is the double world champion taking the races apart and blitzing the field in the open mens events Starting with the time trials on the first day the Manawatu skaters showed they were there to race with a smal team of 4 from Palmerston North all getting medals the results were Daina Gibbs Intermediate ladies 3rd in the time trial 4th in the 500 3rd in the 1k 7th in the 10k points open and 8th in the 15k elimination open ,
Shane Mihaere 3rd in the Intermediate men Time Trial 3rd in the 500m and 3rd in the 1k 7th in the open 10k point race and 7th in the 15k elimination open
Kierryn Hugh Open mens 4th in the Time Trial 3rd in the 500 5th in the 1k 5in the open 10k points and 6in the 15k elimination.

Peter won the 300 Time Trial in 25.63 new National record
National and New Zealand Record in the 500m of 42.192
National record in the 1k of 1.269 and in the 10k points won this in a national record time of 15.44
Then finished the championships with a 23.407 to take the 5th National record in the 15k open mens elimination race and destroyed the rest of the field.
