As you have most likely seen on the news, the Wanganui region has been battered by severe weather the past few days, which has resulted in severe flooding and storm damage.
As a result of this, the accessibility of our designated parking area has been compromised at the McDonalds Mud Muster venue. Flooded areas and slips on Makuhou Road means the option of parking on site has been eliminated.
Sport Wanganui have worked hard to ensure the event will still go ahead this Saturday – and have decided to run a complimentary Shuttle Bus Service for all participants and supporters which will drop you directly off at the venue and take you back afterwards.
In order for this to happen, cars will need to be parked away from the venue at a designated area, and the buses will transport you directly to the Rangitikei Farmstay Woolshed.
There will be two designated Bus Station Pick Up points:
Springvale Stadium Car Park
185 London Street, Wanganui
We ask that competitors travelling from Eltham, Hawera, New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui and Waverley please leave their cars at the Wanganui Bus Pick Up Station and hop on one of the buses to get to the venue.
Old New World Car Park
415 Wellington Road, Marton
We ask that all competitors travelling from Ashhurst, Auckland, Bulls, Feilding, Gisborne, Hunterville, Levin, Lower Hutt, Marton, Masterton, Nelson, Ohakea, Ohakune, Pahiatua, Palmerston North, Sanson, Taihape, Taupo, Waitarere Beach and Wellington please leave their cars at the Marton Bus Pick Up Station, and hop on one of the buses to get to the venue.
The buses will leave at 7:30am, 8am and 8:30am
from both stations, and will drop you off with plenty of time to get your race bib and be ready for your run.
There will be a bag drop desk where you can leave all of your belongings during the race, as we recommend you do bring a spare set of clothes to change into after your event.
The buses will start shuttling people back to the Bus Stations from around 11:30am, for those of you who do not wish to stay around for the Prizegiving
. The buses will then be running back and forwards every half hour from then on until everyone is back at their cars.
Please see the attached bus timetable for the full list of when the buses will be running.
Those who are wanting to enter on the day or who have supporters who were wanting to watch will need to hop on the bus to get out to the venue also. Please note there is no charge for this bus service.
As mentioned above, there will be no onsite parking due to storm damage and flooding, so participants will need to catch the bus out to the event.
Sport Wanganui have done everything possible to make this event go ahead on Saturday and feel this is the best possible way to ensure everyone arrives safety and has an enjoyable event.
Please be sure to pass this message on to anyone else you know who is taking part in the McDonalds Mud Muster. We look forward to seeing you at the Bus Pick Up Stations on Saturday morning, and look forward to seeing you nice and muddy after your race!
