Northwave Swim club has a proud history. We are the only Northland club to produce International and National winners and Representatives.
Head Coach Monica Cooper, SNZ Level Three,including Silver Licence mentor coach, current member of NZSCTA, coached for 30 years and was also very involved in Coach Education for several years, a past Chairman of Swimming Education NZ. Is a past Board member of the NZ Swimming Federation, Swimming NZ and the NZ Coaches Association.

Northland Coach of the Year 2013
Coached the "Northland Swimmer of the Year" for 22 consecutive years, and again for the past six years.
Mark Cooper, was Northland Swimmer of the Year for eight consecutive year. Northland U21 Athlete of the Year two consecutive years - Gary Frew Memorial trophy recipient
and represented NZ at the Oceania Championships, Youth Olympics, Youth Commonwealth Games. He was a member of the NZ Trans Tasman Series team, competed in the World Grand Prix series in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney and the Australian Open Championships both LC and SC and Victoria State medalist,
Another past club member Kushla Chapman represented NZ in the Tri Series between Japan and Australia, the Australian Age Group Championships winning gold medals - 100 & 200m Backstroke. Kushla won medals at National Open level and held NZ Age Group records.
Many Northwave swimmers have successfully represented Northwave at National Championships winning national medals with Mark Cooper the only Northland male swimmer to win medals at NZ Open level, winning silver in the Men's 200m Backstroke and Bronze in the Men's 400m Individual Medley.
Ciara Smith is Northwave's most recent Opens medal winner with a Silver in the Women's 50m Breaststroke only :20" off a NZ Age Group record and Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke.
Melita Raravula represented NZ in the 2012 Trans Tasman Series and the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival.
At the 2012 NZSC Champs Freyah Ruri won 10 medals, 6 gold and 4 silver, the highest number of gold medals won at a national meet by any northland swimmer. 2014 Callum Prime - Gold medal achiever and multi record breaker at National Age Group level.
Hayley McIntosh and Callum Prime selected to represent NZ in the SNZ Age Group team to compete at the State Selected Championships, Canberra September '15.
Hayley McIntosh gained NZ team selection for the 2016 Australian AGs.and won a Silver medal in the 800m Free, and has swam under the qualification standard set for the NZ Youth Pan Pac team selection in both 400 a& 800m free.
These past club swimmers, plus current squad swimmers, have broken many Northland Open, Junior and Age Group records, with Northwave swimmers regularly breaking Age Group records, including the Northland Short Course and Long Course 14&O relay records.
We continually have swimmers winning medals at National Championship level.
We offer swimmers the opportunity to fulfil their goals by providing a full training programme ffrom Senior national level to Juniors from our well qualified, highly skilled coaching team.
Northwave fosters an environment of confidence, good sportsmanship, respect and team support
We train at the Whangarei Aquatic Centre 7 lane 25m Indoor facility.
Parents are able to become well qualified officials and support Swimming Northland and SNZ.
We have an efficient, friendly committee who manage the needs of the club.
