Northwave Swim club has a proud history.
Head Coach Monica Cooper, SNZ Level Three,including Silver Licence mentor coach, current member of NZSCTA, coached for over twenty eight years and was also very involved in Coach Education for several years and was the Chairman of Swimming Education NZ. A past Board member of the NZ Swimming Federation, Swimming NZ and the NZ Coaches Association.

Northland Coach of the Year 2012 and 2013
Coached the "Northland Swimmer of the Year" for 21 consecutive years, and again for the past three years.
Mark Cooper, was Swimmer of the Year for eight consecutive year.
Mark (Coop) represented NZ at the Oceania Championships, Youth Olympics, Youth Commonwealth Games, was a member of the NZ Trans Tasman Series team. Competed in the World Grand Prix series in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney and the Australian Open Championships both LC and SC.
Another past club member Kushla Chapman represented NZ in the Tri Series between Japan and Australia, the Australian Age Group Championships winning gold medals - 100 & 200m Backstroke. Kushla won medals at National Open level and held NZ Age Group records.
Many Northwave swimmers have successfully represented Northwave at National Championships winning national medals with Mark Cooper the only Northland male swimmer to win medals at NZ Open level, winning silver in the Men's 200m Backstroke and Bronze in the Men's 400m Individual Medley.
Melita Raravula represented NZ in the 2012 Trans Tasman Series and the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. She is another National Age medal winner who won many medals in a wide range of events.
Melita, Northland's "Swimmer of the Year" and winner of the "Mark Cooper Trophy" for the performance closest % margin to a NZ record for three consecutive seasons.
At the 2012 NZSC Champs Freyah Ruri won 10 medals, 6 gold and 4 silver, the highest number of medals won at a national meet by any northland swimmer.
These past club swimmers,plus other squad swimmers, have broken many Northland Open, Junior and Age Group records, with Northwave swimmers regularly breaking Age Group records, including the Northland Short Course and Long Course 14&O relay records.
We offer swimmers the opportunity to fulfil their goals by providing a full training programme from a well qualified and skilled coaching team.
Northwave fosters an environment of confidence, good sportsmanship & group co-operation.
Our coach upskills by attending the Australian Coaches Convention.
We train at the Whangarei Aquatic Centre 7 lane 25m Indoor facility.
Parents are able to become well qualified officials and support Swimming Northland and SNZ.
We have an efficient committee who manage the needs of the club.
