Eunice Kennedy-Shriver had a vision:
The Special Olympics movement will transform communities by inspiring people throughout the world to open their minds, accept and include people with intellectual disabilities and thereby celebrate the similarities common to all people.
At the Bay of Islands Specail Olympics we believe that, as long as we (coaches and volunteers) always follow her lead with all our heart we will provide a quality, equitable and rewarding experience for our athletes and their families.
The Special Olympics Athlete Oath is:
“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
“Kia toa ahau, Ki te Kore ahau e, Toa, kia maia ahau, Ahakoa ka hinga”
