The Waimate Rugby Club, Manchester Park, Waimate, South Canterbury, New Zealand was established in 1876.
The Waimate Rugby Club owns its own rugby grounds, including four rugby fields (two floodlit), a grandstand, changing rooms, and clubrooms that cater for many functions.
The club fields a senior team, a senior B team, two IAB (Intermediate Advisory Board, U18,U16,) teams, a presidents grade team, and also has one of the strongest JAB programmes in the South Canterbury District.
The senior team, B team and teenage teams are always on the lookout for new overseas or local rugby players wishing to develop their skills as a rugby player and culturally by travelling to NZ from abroad or relocating from within NZ.
We can help arrange accommodation, work in a variety of fields, and have contacts in a wide range of areas. These include forestry, agriculture, manufacturing, plumbing, painting, hospitality, retail and many other trades.
The season extends from March through until August, with pre-season training starting in February.
At the conclusion of the club competitions in early August, South Canterbury representative teams are chosen. The South Canterbury senior team competes in the NZRU Heartland competition.
